Fagus sylvatica 'Asplenifolia', Fern Leaf Beech

Description:

Strong branches and delicate fern-like foliage. This beach makes a fine specimen tree for large gardens. The leaves are green and have a lustrous sheen during summer with the autumn color being a golden brown. The light gray bark of the is ornamental in winter and they are exceptionally long-lived trees that make it a good addition to the garden.

Tree shape:

Broadly oval to rounded crown with dense, spreading branches, appearing pyramidal when young

 

Special features:

It has the laciest leaves and is the most elegant of all the beeches.
