The Beurre D'Anjou is named for the French word for butter because of its rich flavor. This pear is the perfect variety for storage as the flavor develops over time. D'Anjou is cold hardy and drought tolerant.
This cultivar originated in Europe and was bred for heavy production, fast fruiting, and taste. It's called the 'year-round pear' because it lasts for months after harvesting. Great for baking and eating fresh.
