Botanical name:
Acer palmatum 'Shishigashira', (Lion's Head Japanese Maple)
 
Description:
The highlight of this variety is the dense twiggy growth and small 'curled' leaves.
Spring and Summer leaf colour is green.  In the autumn ‘Shishigashira’ puts on an amazing show of deep yellows and golden shades with hints of red and orange. 
 
Tree shape:
The growth is dense branching with a widening effect midway up on mature trees.

Heavily curled green leaves give an interesting texture
